Melody’s fourth studio album Currency of Man is brimming with funky bass rhythms, sultry vocals, retro-soul brass arrangements, euphoric gospel singers and esoteric orchestrations. Live, these elements pop on stage as Melody draws in her audience as if they’re attending an intimate living room gathering. The LP’s socially conscious heartbeat is rooted in Melody’s observations of real-life characters on the streets of Los Angeles where Currency of Man was recorded, touching upon many timely issues including racial inequality and homelessness.

The cinematic black and white video for lead single “Preacherman”, which premiered via the Wall Street Journal, is a stirring poetic tribute to the story of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old African American boy whose 1955 murder was a catalyst for the ensuing Civil Rights Movement. PRESS HERE to watch the video and read more about Emmett on the Emmett Till Foundation web site. Melody also recently released a docu-video for her song “It Gonna Come” which delves into the issue of homelessness. PRESS HERE to watch the video on Yahoo!, and PRESS HERE to stream the song.
