TRUE WIDOW Reveal ‘Avvolgere’ Album Details + Pre-Orders, Premiere “Entheogen”

Dallas trio TRUE WIDOW have announced their fourth album Avvolgere, due out this Sept. 23 on CD/2xLP/DLX 2xLP/Digital via Relapse Records. The forthcoming LP perfects the formula that 2013's Circumambulation established: Avvolgere rocks and rolls with serene, rounded climaxes and steep, jangling choruses that engulf the listener with waves of downbeat, saccharine melodies and mesmerizing distortion. TRUE WIDOW's signature alternation between male and female vocals helps further blur the boundaries between the heft of stoner rock, the droning atmosphere of shoegaze, and the twangy catchiness of blues and indie rock. It's both concise and circuitous - the album takes you on a journey that you can't ever quite predict or expect. Avvolgere is TRUE WIDOW sounding more infectious and consummate than ever before.

Eliot Sumner announces tour dates with On An On with stops including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and more. The tour follows the premiere of "Dead Arms & Dead Legs", Eliot's first new music of 2015

Eliot's EP Information, which was released in 2014 via Cherrytree/Interscope still bore some of the synth-pop hallmarks of her output as I Blame Coco, but its release captured a new audience with a renewed sense of focus and clarity. There are some more sophisticated influences on the record, from her favorite band as a teenager, the Bad Seeds, to bands like Cluster, Faust, and Kraftwerk. Following the release of the EP, Eliot joined Lykke Li as support on her European tour dates. The backstage antics of Eliot and her band were captured in a three-part behind the scenes documentary that featured on i-D, "On the Road with Eliot Sumner and Lykke Li".

"There's a newly minted swagger to her pop" - Noisey

"Eliot Sumner will have you dancing with new single 'After Dark'" - Billboard

"['Dead Arms & Dead Legs' is] brooding, minimal, beautiful" - The Sunday Times (UK)

"['Dead Arms & Dead Legs' is] a pretty huge pop song, with Sumner's androgynous alto sounding dusty and world-weary over a cloudy melody, anxious percussion, and-by song's end-a seasick swell of feedback" - The Fader

Sights & Sounds: Band: STORIES - Album: "THE YOUTH TO BECOME"

New video
Band: Stories
Song: "Under Haze"

Pretty intense new song from the band Stories playing Chicago this week and Australia in September. Check them out on tour if you can. ‘Under Haze’ is taken from the debut Stories album ‘The Youth To Become’ - Available August 14th via UNFD/Rise Records.

Pre-Order on iTunes:

Stories

Stories have today announced that their debut album The Youth To Become will be released next Friday August 14 via UNFD. The album is available to preorder now from 24Hundred and iTunes.

[iframe id="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iKRejeIBbJE"]

"The Youth To Become is a powerful demonstration of what's possible when talent meets dedication. A record of poise and punch, Stories' debut full-length is the sound of five young men rewriting the rules of heavy music.

Led by Morgan Dodson, Stories have created a record that aches with taut pressure. The Youth To Become is a caustic blast of energy created by Dodson, his guitarist brother Nic, guitarist Sean Young, bassist Luke Fuller and drummer Roscoe Frazier who draws influence from post-hardcore, metal, alternative and progressive rock, but never dwells too long on a particular style. And considering they were discovered by Northlane guitarist Josh Smith, who nurtured them from an early stage, that scope makes sense.

With two brothers guiding the creative process - Nic writes the music and Morgan the lyrics - Storieshave evolved into one of the most exciting young heavy bands in the world. "Because we're brothers, we tend to be on the same sort of track with a lot of our opinions and feelings," explains Morgan. "This has been the case since I can remember. Since we started writing The Youth To Become, our bond has certainly strengthened more and more, and I definitely feel like we make a good team when working anything creative together."

Today, Stories reveal the first single from the album 'Under Haze.' Morgan explains the track: "Being the last song we wrote on the album, it took little pieces from each stretch of the record and came together with a pretty dark vibe. We knew right from when we wrote it that it would be a cool song for people to hear first. Lyrically, I feel like I created a strong sense of imagery with this track, and it parallels with the high energy of the sounds."

NEUROSIS Begins Major North American Tour

As their thirtieth anniversary creeps ever closer late in 2015, NEUROSIS will this week embark on their most massive North American tour since before the turn of the millennium, as the sixteen-city expedition kicks off tomorrow, Friday, July 31st.

The forceful aural surge of NEUROSIS will be felt through a deluge of performances which are set to take place in sixteen cities across America and Canada over the next three weeks. The quintet will punish the continent with one of their most crushing live sets to date, beginning on July 31st in Lawrence, Kansas, followed by shows in Minneapolis, Madison, Chicago, Louisville, Detroit, Toronto, Montréal, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Richmond, Carrboro, Atlanta and New Orleans, before coming to a smoldering finale in Houston on August 16th, the band playing to cities and states which they have not visited since the 1990s along the way.

Support for NEUROSIS will include the thunder of labelmates Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth (featuring Tad Doyle of TAD and Hog Molly) for the entire trek, with additional legs of the tour also featuring nomadic doomsday cult, The Body, expansive rock duo, Sumac (members of Baptists, Old Man Gloom, ex-Isis, etc.), doom/rock experimenters Pinkish Black and blues/rock-driven labelmates Iron Tongue. NEUROSIS will also perform at the immense Montréal Festival where they'll join the likes of Mastodon, Meshuggah, Gorguts and many others on August 7th.

Since the release of their 1987 debut LP, Pain Of Mind, NEUROSIS has increasingly developed into a more potent and prolific act with each new recording and tour. Through releases on Alchemy, Lookout!, Alternative Tentacles, Relapse, Hydra Head and more -- before forming their own Neurot Recordings which houses all of their recordings since the beginning of the millennium -- the band has become a genre-defining institution of heavy music. The Oakland, California natives have broken ground at every turn, pioneering a sound that influenced heavyweights including Isis, Mastodon and High On Fire and inspiring endless legions of fans with their expansive, mind-altering works, as well as forming their own solo outfits and touring acts outside of NEUROSIS.

In 2012, NEUROSIS released Honor Found In Decay, recorded by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio and mastered by John Golden of Golden Mastering, the album showcasing the band taking their esoteric but leveling and hymns to even further diversified areas of exploration. Following the album's hometown release show, they disbanded with the backdrop visuals that had accompanied their live set nearly since inception, empowering their anthems in a drastically more human approach. Since the album's release, NEUROSIS has been heavily proactive tour-wise, embarking on regional bouts of touring and taking part in high-profile one-off and festival events throughout North America and Europe. And the cycle shall continue through the remainder of 2015 and onward towards their eleventh studio album.

THE SHEEPDOGS Announce North American Tour Dates

THE SHEEPDOGS Announce North American Tour Dates This Fall

New Album Future Nostalgia Out October 2 via Dine Alone Records

[iframe id="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-uJ1tfEk2uU"]

Following a string of festival appearances over the summer, The Sheepdogs will embark on an extensive North American tour beginning in September and making stops in Austin, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Nashville and more.

The Sheepdogs remain steadfast in their commitment to rock n' roll excellence with their third album Future Nostalgia out October 2, 2015 via Dine Alone Records. Since their inception, the band has always sought to play the kind of music they themselves love: "Pure, simple, good-time music," as singer/guitarist Ewan Currie puts it. It's no surprise, then, that the album is firmly rooted in the rock tradition that listeners have come to expect from the boys.

Pre-order the album on iTunes HERE,

and can also pre-order bundles including merch on www.thesheepdogs.com.

Formed in Saskatoon, The Sheepdogs have followed in the footsteps of Canadian rock legends including Neil Young, The Band and The Guess Who with a bold take on classic guitar rock and polished retro sound. The band came into the national spotlight in 2011 as the first unsigned band to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone, which led to a performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and a special appearance on Project Runway. A live favorite, The Sheepdogs have played at numerous festivals and headlining tours across North America, including performances at Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza, opening for the likes of Kings of Leon and John Fogerty, and sharing the stage with Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte and Justin Long at Stones Fest. For their last self-titled LP, The Sheepdogs worked with Patrick Carney of The Black Keys to produce the collection, which debuted at No. 1 on the Canadian Top 200 SoundScan Chart, and garnered three No. 1 singles. The band has also won four JUNO awards, and been nominated for seven over their impressive career.

The Sheepdogs are Ewan Currie (lead vocal/guitar), Ryan Gullen (bass/vox), Sam Corbett (drums/vox), Shamus Currie (keys/horns) and Rusty Matyas (guitar/vox).

Sights & Sounds Artist: "Dorothy" Song: "After Midnight" - Playing Fox Oakland August 25th

DOROTHY

ON TOUR WITH MIGUEL - Playing Fox Oakland with Miguel On August 25th

Check out the new song "After Midnight"

LA-based, female-fronted rock band Dorothy (composed of vocalist Dorothy Martindrummer Zac Morrisguitarist Mark Jackson and bassist Gregg Cash) will be hitting the road with R&B sensation Miguel. The tour kicks off in Austin, Texas and will run through early September. After an electric series of shows at this year's SXSW, the band is looking forward to getting back out on the road.

2015 has been a big year for Dorothy - the band recently signed to Roc Nation and released their debut EP Dorothy. Rolling Stone deemed them a new artist you need to know now and compared their stomping, hard-rock sound to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin and Black Sabbath.

DOROTHY EP on iTunes

DOROTHY EP on Amazon

"... Menacing and electric, with Dorothy's vocals - which bring to mind the ear-bending acrobatics of Janis Joplin and Robert Plant - lighting the way through a bog of muddy riffs and bone-shaking beats."

Rolling Stone

"Kicking ass in ruby slippers, that's what DOROTHY does. Straight power and style on all fronts. Think Sleigh Bells intensity birthing a baby with Patti Smith's gritty vocals... to restore your faith in the modern rock scene." -Noisey

"They're keeping it real with a stomping fuzz-rocker called 'Wicked Ones.' Its bluesy, chugging heartbeat (think Black Sabbath, White Stripes, or a myriad of others in between) gets the point across." -Billboard

New Sounds - Band: DICEY HOLLOW Track: "Rose of Maine"

Self-Titled Debut EP Out July 24th On Dine Alone Records

Newcomers, Dicey Hollow is the collective talents of Petter Ericson Stakee (lead singer and guitarist of Alberta Cross) and Jamie Biden. Today they have unveiled their latest offering "Rose of Maine." From the duo's forthcoming, self-titled debut EP that will be released worldwide on July 24th via Dine Alone Records.
Petter Ericson Stakee says, "'Rose of Maine' was one of the last songs we recorded for the EP, but the tune is actually one of our oldest. Some late night jams at Jamie's studio in Midtown [New York City] kind of brought it back to life again. It's definitely one of my favorites on the project now."
Dicey Hollow began as an excuse for old friends to finally get together and create some music - that excuse was a film that needed a score. Although the film never got completed, the two were inspired by the collaboration and kept writing together. Whenever time allowed them both to escape New York City, they would head to Mt. Tremper in Upstate New York to write and demo the songs that would eventually make up the debut EP. The result of their collaboration captures an intimate brand of cinematic rock. The six-song EP also features the mixing masterminds of Nico Aglietti (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros), Claudius Mittendorfer (Temples, Big Data, Interpol, Johnny Marr) and Kyle Pass.
"...graceful kind of alt-country." -Magnet
"...heavy piano notes and a heap of Americana string work."
- Consequence of Sound
"Stakee's high, emotive voice is similar to Thom Yorke's of Radiohead though the band's overall sound is reminiscent of Iron and Wine- slow, Americana folk music that evokes feelings of a midsummer night's reverie." - In Your Speakers
"... a dreamy, almost floaty spin on folk and country." - Baeble
